RACCOON REMOVAL FROM UNDER STRUCTURES

Raccoons are fairly common in residential neighbourhoods thanks to their resilience, adaptability, and intelligence. The warmth and shelter provided by an attic or under a structure becomes the perfect place to find the protection, keep safe, mate, and raise their families.

Additionally we see raccoons creating dens inside chimneys, crawl spaces, sheds, window wells, and wall cavities. Although adorable, and friendly at times it is important to remember they are problematic pests when in and around your property and could carry many diseases and parasites (round worm, leptospirosis, salmonella, rabies).

How does our raccoon removal service work?

WILDLIFE INSPECTION

We start all jobs with a detailed inspection to understand your unique situation. We will inspect the roof, and attic for signs of raccoon damage, feces or babies.

IDENTIFY
ENTRY POINTS

Once we've identified where the raccoons are getting in we install a one way door that allows the raccoons a way to evict themselves, while also preventing them from re-entering the area.

PROTECT &
PREVENT

The key to successful long-term protection from raccoons is to proof any potential weak points on the home or structure. Any preventative work would be installed at the same time to eliminate further damage during the removal process.

RETURN & REINFORCE

2-3 weeks following your service, we will come back to the property to remove the one way door, and repair and reinforce the entry points.

How we'll evict the raccoon:

Wildlife Exclusion methods are our preferred way to control wildlife. It is the most humane, permanent, and effective method of keeping raccoons out of a home compared to trapping and relocating. We don’t think that these methods effectively address wildlife issues because they are only temporary solutions. Not only does exclusion last longer than other methods, but the homeowner doesn’t need to constantly monitor for animals or pests.

The most humane way to safely remove a raccoon from a residence is by using the one way door method. This door is as resistant as it comes – it is constructed out of a heavy gauge steel mesh. Following the inspection, and after locating the entry point, we install this door over the access area. This allows the raccoon to exit, and then shuts behind it preventing him from getting back inside. 2-3 weeks following your service, our team comes back to the property to remove the one way door, and repair and reinforce the entry point. Learn More About our Preventative Sealing Services…

How we'll keep them out:

Raccoons are known for their nimble fingers, and smart innovative capabilities which is why a home needs to be properly sealed; otherwise, they will continually keep finding their way in. During your service we install industrial strength materials that animals cannot tamper with or destroy – This prevents them from breaking back in.

All work done by us comes with a two-year warranty, and if you go for our full service recommendation, you’re guaranteed five years of protection!

What if there are babies?

Baby Season for raccoons occurs in the spring, typically April through May. If you are dealing with a raccoon on your property during this time, there is a good chance it has babies hidden away within your home, in the attic or sometimes within your walls. Raccoon babies (known as ‘kits’) are born immobile and without fur. For the first 8 weeks of their lives, they cannot move on their own and the only way to remove them from an attic is by hand. By using the proper exclusion techniques, we can humanely keep mothers with their babies while providing our customers with a safe and permanent solution that doesn’t involve traps or poison.

Following the attic inspection, we will determine where the kits are located, and proceed to humanely remove them from the area. During the service the kits are removed from the den site, placed inside of a warming box that is then secured near the entry point. The goal of this is not to separate mother from her babies, but rather to keep the babies close to where the mother left them. At that point the mother raccoon will come and remove each kit 1-by-1 and relocate them to another den site in the area. We will then continue to seal up any weak spots on the home to ensure full prevention of future intruders!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

The cost of raccoon removal depends on the number of animals, the location, and whether there are babies involved. First Class Wildlife Removal provides transparent, custom quotes after inspecting your property. Prices cover safe removal, cleanup, and prevention measures to ensure the raccoons don’t return.

It is not recommended to remove raccoons yourself. First Class Wildlife Removal uses humane methods and safe handling techniques to capture raccoons without harming them or your property. Attempting DIY removal can result in injury, stress to the animal, or legal issues. Our team ensures raccoons are relocated safely and legally.

The removal process varies depending on the number of raccoons and how accessible their den is. Our team reaches the site within 2 to 4 hours to set everything up. The raccoons could take 24 to 72 hours to leave the area. After 2 to 3 weeks, our team comes back to your house to remove the one-way door and repair the entry point.

Yes. First Class Wildlife Removal offers emergency raccoon removal for urgent situations, such as raccoons inside living spaces, active break-ins causing structural damage, or animals that have entered attics and cannot exit. Our team responds quickly to assess the situation and implement safe removal strategies to minimize risk and property damage.

Please note that for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife, we recommend contacting your local animal control or wildlife rehabilitation organization for proper assistance.

Raccoons are territorial and often return to familiar locations for shelter and food. First Class Wildlife Removal addresses this by removing the raccoons and securing entry points to prevent them from coming back. Preventive measures and property inspections reduce the chance of future infestations.

Raccoons can carry diseases and may bite or scratch if cornered. They also leave droppings that can transmit bacteria or parasites. First Class Wildlife Removal prioritizes safety by keeping people and pets away during removal and handling raccoons using professional and humane techniques.

Common signs include loud noises in attics or walls at night, overturned garbage cans, raccoon tracks, droppings, or damage to roofs, vents, and gardens. First Class Wildlife Removal can inspect your property to confirm the presence of the raccoons and identify potential entry points to prevent the raccoons from coming back.

DIY raccoon removal is highly risky. Raccoons can bite, scratch, spray, and carry diseases like rabies. First Class Wildlife Removal has the experience, equipment, and legal knowledge to remove raccoons safely and humanely, avoiding injury to humans, pets, or the animals.

Raccoons can carry rabies, leptospirosis, raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris), and other bacterial infections. Contact with droppings or direct handling can pose health risks. First Class Wildlife Removal uses professional methods to minimize exposure and safely remove raccoons from homes or yards.

After a full inspection, the team identifies the raccoon’s entry point and installs a heavy-gauge steel one-way door over the opening. This door allows the raccoon to leave on its own but prevents it from getting back inside. Once the raccoon has exited, the team returns to remove the door and permanently repair and reinforce the entry point. This approach is humane, effective, and provides a long-term solution rather than a temporary fix.

If baby raccoons (kits) are present, the goal is always to keep the mother and her babies together. After a full attic inspection, the team will locate the kits and carefully remove them by hand, as young raccoons cannot move on their own during the first several weeks of life.

The kits are placed in a secure warming box near the entry point. This allows the mother raccoon to find them easily and relocate them one by one to another den site in the area. Once the family has left, the entry points and weak areas of the home are properly sealed to prevent future wildlife intrusion. All work is completed in compliance with Ontario wildlife regulations to ensure a humane and safe solution for both the animals and the homeowner.

Prevention involves sealing entry points in attics, chimneys, and vents, securing garbage cans, and removing food or shelter sources. First Class Wildlife Removal provides a full inspection and implements long-term measures such as sealing entry points, roof repairs, and preventative techniques to ensure raccoons do not return.
